If your toenail problem keeps recurring despite podiatry management, we may recommend toenail surgery. This includes a local anaesthetic injection to numb the toe so there is minimal pain felt during the procedure. We cut down the nail deep into the root. A chemical called phenol is applied to kill the root. This area is then cleaned out and dressing is applied. Your podiatrist will advise you how to manage your toe after the procedure to reduce pain and speed up recovery. Bear in mind toenail surgery is not recommended for everyone and your podiatrist will discuss this option with you if required.
Speak to one of our podiatrists today to see how we can help you. Contact us or book an appointment online. It is always best to manage the problem before it gets worse as these problems rarely go away on its own. |
